Okx Exchange Receives MiCA Pre-Authorization
Okx Exchange has received MiCA pre-authorization for Virtual Financial Assets, bringing it closer to obtaining a full MiCA license and expanding crypto services across Europe
Okx Exchange has taken a significant step towards expanding its operations in Europe by receiving pre-authorization for the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) for Virtual Financial Assets (VFA). This pre-authorization brings the platform one step closer to obtaining a full MiCA license, which would enable Okx to offer its regulated crypto services to over 400 million individuals across the European Economic Area (EEA).
Once the full MiCA license is obtained, Okx plans to provide a variety of crypto exchange products, including spot and bot trading for over 240 cryptocurrency tokens, 260 trading pairs, and 60 Euro-based trading pairs. This will significantly broaden Okx’s offerings within the European market.
In pursuit of this goal, Okx has established a dedicated MiCA hub in Malta, which has become a key player in Okx's European expansion strategy. The hub will serve as the foundation for obtaining the full MiCA license and provide access to all 30 EEA member states. Malta’s comprehensive regulatory framework and strong technology infrastructure made it an ideal location for Okx’s MiCA hub, as the country’s regulatory standards for blockchain and cryptocurrency align with the exchange's goals.
“We chose Malta as its MiCA hub because of the country’s comprehensive regulatory approach and high standards for blockchain and cryptocurrency, as well as its strong technology infrastructure,” said Okx. The exchange currently holds a Class 4 Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), which positions Okx well to operate across the region.
The completion of the full MiCA license would further cement Okx’s commitment to offering regulated crypto services in Europe, providing both retail and institutional investors with more robust access to digital asset markets.
